About Lee Valley Ranch

Lee Valley Ranch is an incredible place set deep within the Black Hills of South Dakota. It is a place of immense beauty, with luscious green valleys surrounded by the forests and mountains and a breathtaking view of the stars. Owned by Pastor Dick and Cynthia Borrud, Lee Valley Ranch is visited by more than 500 people each summer. Whether they come for camps; family reunions; retreats; or to simply rest and be revitalized, you be welcomed by Lee Valley’s enthusiasm, warmth, and generosity.

The setting is rustic but modern. Much of the week will be experienced in outdoor settings. Each church group will stay in either a tent village or bunkhouse area. Clean bathrooms are available throughout the camp and include shower facilities.

The Black Hills elevation means very few bugs, cool nights, and warm days with incredible beauty and many things to see and explore.

Peer Ministry Camp Covenant

(To be signed by youth and adult participants in your group)

Lee Valley Ranch is unique in that we are being welcomed and hosted by the Borrud family. We will be participating in and around their home, as their guests. It also means that everyone helps in making this camp clean and safe. The camp is our responsibility. For one hour after breakfast group build time allows us to serve each other, the camp and our environment.

Peer Ministry is unique in that you have most likely been invited because someone views you as a caring leader who has the ability to make a difference for others lives in your congregation and community. In the midst of this incredible setting we will work on these skills applying them at camp and through out our travels.

We also come as unique groups with our own varied traditions and background. We come to learn, grow and respect each other’s unique nesses.

To help us live in this community I agree to…

  • Come in order to advance my leadership skills, faith and spiritual practices.
  • To help build my parish/congregations Ministry Team.
  • Learn from all other leaders and participants at the camp.
  • Respect the camp staff, the Borrud Family and camp property
  • Respect all groups, areas, participants, traditions and property
  • Respect the natural environment of the Black Hills
  • Participate fully and on time in all activities
  • Remain in spaces set aside for our participation
  • Not enter opposite sex spaces including bunk houses and tents
  • Respect lights out times
  • Keep all candy and extra food out of the camp environment, keeping wildlife out of your area!
  • Keep electronic media and communication devices in your vehicles
  • Leave clothing etc, that advertises products such as alcohol, etc. at home.
  • And of course… no drugs, smoking, alcohol, fire arms, fire works, or other harmful, or disruptive devices or substances.
  • And remember: Be humble and respectable, but above all just be flexible. – (The Gumby Pledge!)

You may add other points that are unique to your group such as your travel to and from the camp.

In summery,

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself.
